This is the 3rd designer tête-á-tête I’ve made for TRADhome, Traditional Home’s digital only edition. For the Spring 2013 issue, I worked with the hilarious duo Amanda Nisbet and Joe Lucas. They are the perfect pair to compare East Coast and West Coast design. And clearly, they had a lot of fun working together!

Let’s Talk interview for PDN
I was thrilled to speak to Holly Hughes of PDN about my video work. A lot of photographers have started working in video because they have to—but I’ve really enjoyed embracing and exploring the medium. I always aim to create a seamless transition between my still and video work, and my work for West Elm in South Africa was a perfect example of that. It was great to share a bit of my experience as a director. Check it out!
This January I traveled to Haiti with Keith Recker of Hand/Eye Magazine and the Hand/Eye Fund to document some of the artists and artisans he has been working with over the years. Keith has been traveling to haiti for years and has an amazing understanding of the craft, culture and art that come from the island. Learning about a country through it’s artists and artisans is an amazing way to get to know a place and I was so lucky to be able to have this introduction. This video focuses on Caribbean Craft, a papier mache company that creates a collection with West Elm. There are many more videos to come and I can’t wait to share them.

Here’s a video I shot with the super-talented stylist Kim Ficaro for West Elm. Kim shows you how to create a beautiful layered bed - a West Elm classic.
I’ve always had a little bit of a crush on Stacy London - it’s no secret, I love bossy ladies. Stacy did not disappoint! With a show like, What Not to Wear, she’s really got to bring it when she presents herself and we had a lot of fun trying outfits that she might not be able to wear on the show. For the video we shot, it was great working with such a pro - she gives some great tips and you can really see why she is so good at what she does!

I photographed Katherine and Sophie, sisters and owners of Georgetown Cupcakes, last winter for Better Homes and Gardens. Like a lot of siblings, they have a natural chemistry and were so fun to work with. They were also great subjects for the video we shot for BHG’s iPad edition.

Here’s a tear sheet from my shoot with Heather Armstrong, blogger extraordinaire, of dooce.com. Heather was so much fun to shoot. I’m not sure which one of us laughed more. I loved hearing all about Heather’s experiences as an ex-Mormon from Tennessee now living in Salt Lake City. And she likes my jokes!
And here’s one of my favorite outtakes:

And a quick behind the scenes video from the shoot:
I photographed Emma Straub and Michael Fusco’s Lefferts Gardens home over the summer and here are the pics and video from the shoot. Emma is a wonderfully talented writer, whose new novel, “Other People We Married,” is being published this coming February. Michael is a fantastic graphic designer who creates amazing book covers, posters, prints among other things. Styling by “>PJ Mehaffey.

I recently photographed Maya Kaimal for Better Homes and Gardens. Maya has her own line of home-style Indian foods inspired by her family’s cooking. She is also the author of 2 cookbooks and the mother of 2!
